Now Throughout your training to becoming a Reiki practitioner\master, you are told to memorize these symbols and not let anyone else, that is not of Reiki, see the symbols. Why? What would be so bad? They would not know what to do with it! Would they turn the world upside down if anyone else would know of the symbols? I think not, because the Funny thing is that all that have taken Reiki training are told, at the end of the class, that you do not have to draw the symbols exactly THE INTENT of you doing so is good enough!Now I ask myself, why go to all the trouble of learning these symbols when all I have to do is Intend on giving Energy at a distance with added power and for emotional healing, if I Intend enough this will come true and will manifest itself, would it not?From now on, I, and encourage others, will not use any sort of symbols in any of my healing sessions, I will use INTENT and INTUITION only. I do believe that I will be able to achieve a higher energy level and at the same time achieve greater concentration without thinking “Did I do that symbol properly?”

I’m not a Reiki practioner myself, although I’ve had a couple of sessions. However, I have spent alot of time laying my hands on folks to bring the healing energy of Godd into their bodies and souls, with some good results.
I like that you’re asking this question because it speaks to my heart about the need to tear down barriers. If the intention of ANY healing practice is to bring healing – why in the world wouldn’t we spreak the Good News of whatever we have to others, as quickly as possible?

I will have lots more to say about Energy healing in general and where it is going. But for now, Reiki is almost like Kung Fu; The Sifu’s will teach it to you but it will be dishonorable if you show non Kung Fu pratitioners what you know. We keep it in the Lineage, so not all can see.

Beautiful point. When I took Reiki, I had already been doing distance healing without it, so never bothered to use the symbol. In fact, I never really used any of the symbols because I didn’t feel they were necessary. It actually seemed inefficient and like a waste of energy to take the time to use the symbol for something that could be done without it.
For some people, however, the symbols are useful. I feel that the symbols of Reiki, specific “techniques” we learn in energy healing (such as particular hand positions), the use of objects such as pendulums, are all tools that can be useful for our learning until we are able to do the same without them. They’re like the training wheels on a bicycle. They provide support until you’re ready to go on your own. Some people never need to use such tools. Some people never need to take a course. We all have a different path and each of us has the perfect path for us.
I do feel Reiki can be a great way for someone to get started with energy healing. It seems to me when people do start with it, they can tend to feel the attunements and symbols are necessary because that’s what they needed to start with. There’s no one way that’s right for everyone, and I don’t feel Reiki is an exclusive kind of energy that cannot be accessed any other way. Reiki has made a tremendous contribution to making energy healing accessible to more people. It’s very well recognized, so I am grateful to it for that!
As for secrecy associated with some techniques, I have mixed feelings about that. Sometimes I can see a good reason for it. This has given me “food for thought”!
